HOT NINTENDO NEWS YOU DON'T KNOW YET

04 February 2006

Yes, you've guessed it right, we're heading into a big story-arc that will finally wrap up all those cooky dreams August has been having since year one. That is to say of course, IF THEY SURVIVE IT. Because maybe they won't, you know.

Other news, I've QUIT Majora's Mask. Did I mention this before? Yes, I've become fed up with the game. It wasn't even a frustrated sigh of giving up; but rather a calculated decision that said: I'm not going to spend any more time on this game. I have loads of others games to play that will actually bring me joy. The motivation to play Majora's Mask was completely gone, so instead of allowing it to hang over my free time like a cumbersome to-do list, I've simply closed the box and put it on the shelf next to Windwaker. The physical trigger that catalysed this event was the water temple, which, after ploughing through its bowels, presented me with a boss that was frustrating and not fun to do. And who am I to then ignore that clear message the designers are sending me: Do Not Play Our Game, We Do Not Want You To Succeed Or Enjoy Yourself?

I went to Nintendo the other day, and there were a couple of things that struck me as disappointing. I will sum them up here:

1. The floor tiles were not set to trigger audio cues from Mario games upon contact.
2. No one wore red heads adorned with 'M' or even 'L'.
3. Employees did not frequently jump up, and when they did, I did not hear 'tang!' 'tang!'.
4. Neither Shigeru Miyamoto nor Reggie Fils-Aime made a surprise-visit in the exact window of time I was present on the site.

I told you, disappointment all around.

Roderick.
