01 June 2005

I'm in Germany now. That's right. Last monday I packed up my belongings and moved to easter pastures. For two whole months this summer (and most likely another two months in 2006) I'm working as an intern at German gamescompany Bad Brain Entertainment. Obviously I can't really tell yet what kind of experience it is, but I'll be sure to write some stuff about it as the weeks progress. Suffice it to say that at this point I'm pretty excited and hope to make really cool stuff during my visit.

The time that I do not spend at the office is designated to my little new home I'd like to call 'caravan'. It's a tiny thing with all the comforts of the civilized age and it stands on a camping. Hopefully it'll be nice and warm all summer without too many storms. And with a swimming pool next to me I should be fine.

Once again I am completely devoid of my usual array of media surrounding me. No internet, only German tv, and no games. And I like it. I'm going to devote a lot of my free time drawing comics and catching up on reading (a friend pushed the entire series of Dune on me, so I'll be indulging in some Frank Herbert it seems). I'm also going to try my hand on some more experimental comics so as to broaden my horizon. That is, next to the ever-prevailing work on Captain August of course. I've already bought some new tools and if it works out well I'll show you some more about it in the future.

So this is going to be a pretty productive summer for me. Not only am I suddenly working in the gamesindustry, I'm also going to create oodles of cool new comics, all the while relaxing in the sun! Couldn't think of a better way to spend those empty months!
