CONFLICTING LIVES

16 February 2005

For a while I considered just putting up a sign saying 'come back in about four months to a year'. How could I possibly be bothered with pursuing everyday ventures such as a webcomic, now that I had found a better life? OK, so there never really was any doubt, but this is meant to illustrate just how irrational a person becomes when he is sucked into World of Warcraft.

Yes my children, it is mine! After years of anticipation and numerous fits of weltschmertz, I have finally found my way into Azeroth! And a glorious world it is. Last friday I bought the Collector's Edition (which, by the way is absolutely the creamiest special edition I've ever seen, crammed to the brim with delicious goodies, without which no true fan of Warcraft or Blizzard should go) and ever since I've been playing non-stop. Only stopping to rest, eat, or execute only the most necessary of daily jobs and deadline-attending, I can safely say I'm totally addicted.

I will now move into straight connaisseur terrain. I won't make a habit out of it, but I'm afraid I'll indulge in my share of technolanguage and estranging from the sane readers. Right now, as I write this (it's sunday-evening, because I like to work ahead), I'm a level 17 Undead Warlock playing on the European servers. I go by the name of Korach, but only because my first-pick name was already taken, much to my bitter dismay. I had hoped it would be still free, that's why I rushed to be among the first online, but it would seem someone beat me to it. So, now I am Korach, which is a fitting name for an Undead warlock. If you want to know who he is, I suggest flipping through a Bible. He's right there, somewhere in Exodus. Seek him out.

Anyway, I've already acquired some good loot and fine skills, and I just can't wait to see what the game has in store for me. Mounts, new continents, hero classes, it's all too much! But of course, I don't have all the time in the world. Just because I took one weekend off, doesn't mean that my busy life has evaporated. That's why I've decided that as of now, sleeping is for the meek. Real world citizen by day, Azerothian inhabitant by night! Hail to the Forsaken!

Roderick.
