STARCRAFT WEIRDLUMS

28 July 2010

Okay, now I don’t know what to think. What’s happening in the Dutch retail landscape? I spent 24 hours yesterday being increasingly infuriated and vexed by Starcraft 2 not being in stores anywhere where I live in the Netherlands. Sold out? Hardly -it hadn’t been delivered yet.

I first blamed the store for incompetency, but then I learned other stores had quite the same problem. I proceeded to blame Blizzard (and believe you me, the rant that this rant is replacing was one where I ripped Blizzard a grand old new one). I was so angry. How could they not send out copies to stores before the release date? How could they pull such an amateur mistake?

But then in the midst of a wild fit, a veritable tantrum if you will, I received news that yet another store did have the game and had already had it for days in its stocks, waiting for launch day. What was going on here? Why didn’t other stores have it? Was this some sort of ultimate retaliation for all the times those shops had broken the street date of other games? Had they been put on some childish black list? It’s perhaps a clue that the shop that does carry the game has a strict launch date policy.

So now I don’t know what to think. I’m glad though that I’ve been given a reason to not be angry at Blizzard anymore. You have no idea how pissed I was! Sweet, sweet dissipation. I’m gonna wash it away with a healthy dose of Starcraft 2.
